Once upon a time in the pine forests of North Carolina, two adventurous men, Eric and Jim, shared a deep love for the great outdoors. Meanwhile, their wives, Jill and MaryBeth, were ambitious businesswomen with a passion for entrepreneurship. Little did they know that this unique blend of outdoor enthusiasm and business acumen would lead them on an unexpected journey to create their own branding company.

It all began during a hot spring day hunting turkeys in rural North Carolina. Eric and Jim found themselves surrounded by the beauty of nature and the tranquility of a secluded forest. As they sat quietly waiting for the right tom to strut by, Eric couldn't help but notice the custom baseball cap Jim wore, shielding his face from the dappled sunlight filtering through the towering trees. Upon learning that Jim had designed and crafted the leather patch that adorned his cap, Eric suddenly had an idea.

During a dinner of oversized (but delicious!) tomahawk steaks, they shared their vision with their wives, Jill and MaryBeth, who were both accomplished businesswomen and had a knack for finance and marketing. The four of them decided to combine their talents and turn their dream into a reality. And thus, "McKenzie James," a brand that honors their children, was born.

Their journey began with meticulously researching hat styles and color combinations, searching for the perfect blend of comfort, durability, and aesthetics. Ultimately, they selected the highest quality leather and sourcing the best-fitting and most comfortable hats: the Lost Hat Co. They often spent evenings furiously messaging back and forth in their group chat, fine-tuning their business plan. And, after months of hard work, McKenzie James was ready to launch.
